Galp supports with €6.5 million in actions to respond to the humanitarian tragedy

Our support

Galp developed a set of initiatives to support Ukraine, associating its energy with the collective humanitarian efforts in progress to support the Ukrainian people. To implement this list of actions, Galp has allocated €6.5 million to invest in its own initiatives and to support joint humanitarian actions.

Galp stated already that we deplore and condemn the aggression underway in Ukraine and positioned ourselves unreservedly on the side of the Ukrainian people.

Therefore, after suspending the purchase of petroleum products from Russia, we are now materialising our solidarity with the Ukrainian people through actions that help bring as much comfort as possible to the refugees at this very difficult time.

Contribution to International Humanitarian aid

€2.5 million donation to the Red Cross to support Red Cross operations in the Iberian Peninsula, in line with the International Committee and the International Federation of the Red Cross
Humanitarian flights transporting refugees from neighboring countries of Ukraine to Portugal. Galp bears the associated fuel costs
In partnership with CTT and UAPT (Ukraine Association in Portugal), Galp will support the movement of trucks traveling to the border with Ukraine, providing fuel for the journey that will deliver the collected goods
In partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in Warsaw and the HIPOGEST Group (HERTZ), Galp guaranteed the supply of fuel to support the movement of trucks to Poland with essential goods

Support for Refugees Reception centres

Energy support and provision of indoor and outdoor heating points
Fuel support for transport logistics operations
Support for Refugees through food assistance and donation of goods that guarantee the comfort of Ukrainians received in reception centers

Involvement of Galp Employees

Mobilization of teams of volunteer employees in internal initiatives to donate welcome kits and purchase essential goods for refugees who are being received at the centres.

Galp to suspend Russian oil-product purchases Galp deplores the Russian acts of aggression against the people of Ukraine. Galp’s Board of Directors has therefore decided to suspend all new purchases of petroleum products either sourced in Russia or from Russian companies. Although Galp has no joint ventures with any Russian entities, Galp is also in the process of eliminating direct or indirect exposure to petroleum products either sourced in Russia or from Russian companies in existing contracts. Although this measure will impact the Sines operations and its likely financial contribution, Galp will continue to ensure the supply of gas and fuels to the Portuguese market.
