Galp will create a new innovation facility in 2020. UP – Upcoming Energies is the name of the project which will be launched in January, based in Lisbon, and very much focused in searching for solutions for the axes of energy transition, mobility, digital and circular economy.
The creation of UP – Upcoming Energies was announced this Tuesday by Galp’s executive director Susana Quintana Plaza, in the opening session of Galp’s EIC Corporate Day. The event was organised by the energy company together with the European Innovation Council and it gathered in Lisbon 15 European startups and scaleups to present and discuss projects which might include Galp’s roadmap for low carbon business models.
Created with the purpose of opening Galp’s door to the global innovation ecosystem, the UP - Upcoming Energies intends to “create a hub of ideas and new projects at an international scale”, as summarised by Galp’s executive director in charge of the Renewable Energies and New Business, Susana Quintana Plaza.
“We want to test paths and solutions which help Galp to position itself as a reference player in responding to the challenges society and the energy industry face. In that sense, we are searching for partners who have innovative and disruptive ideas or projects, which can add value to the companies service and product portfolio”, underlined Galp’s executive director.
The UP – Upcoming Energies innovation facility will operate in Lisbon, in a scheme open to the national and international startup and scaleup community.
The space will be developed using a reasoning of synergies, co-creation and cooperation for the development, launch and marketing of projects which fit into the axes in which Galp’s innovation area is positioning itself: digital, mobility of the future, energy transition and circular economy.
