New well confirms the existence of light oil in Tupi - The contractor group for BM-S-11 in ultra deep water of Santos Basin, including Petrobras, BG Group and Galp Energia, informs that the drilling in the well informally known as Iracema, located in the Tupi area, reinforces the estimated volumes of recoverable oil and natural gas in the range between 5 to 8 billion barrels in the pre-salt reservoirs of that area.

Incident at Sines refinery utilities unit - On 17 January at approximately 9 pm a fire occurred at the utilities unit of the Sines refinery. The fire was brought under control by the industrial complex’s emergency response team, with no personal injuries or environmental damages.
Galp Energia and Sonae Distribuição agree the termination of the agreement for the exploration of Continente’s service stations - This agreement, which included the set of petrol stations integrated in Sonae Distribuição pursuant to the acquisition, in December 2007, of the ex-operations of Carrefour Portugal, was entered into in February of 2008 and was awaiting the decision from the Portuguese Competition Authority.
Galp Energia acquires eight Blocks in the 10th Bidding Round for Exploratory Blocks in Brazil - Galp Energia took part in the 10th bidding round for exploratory blocks organized by the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (“ANP”), that was held today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Galp Energia completes acquisition of ExxonMobil's Iberian subsidiaries - Galp Energia and ExxonMobil concluded today the acquisition of ExxonMobil affiliates' fuels and certain lubricants businesses in Spain and Portugal. The transaction represents a petroleum product sales volume of around one million tons per year and includes ExxonMobil's retail station network in the two countries, currently totalling 130 service stations, and its Industrial, Wholesale, LPG and Aviation fuels businesses. As of today, Galp Energia owns 628 service stations in Spain. The agreement for the acquisition of ExxonMobil’s operations for marketing oil products in Portugal and Spain was closed on April 2008, with the final approval from the European Commission announced on October 31, 2008.
