Every Step Counts
(Truly every single one!)

Walking, running, and cycling count - we already knew that. But what about those first clumsy steps when playing padel? Or the steps you take when walking the dog, swapping the lift for the stairs, or going to the supermarket? When we say that Every Step Counts, we mean it. Every single one does count.
Every Step Counts is back! From the 7th of October to the 8th of December, we are once again transforming steps into meals for those most in need. For every kilometre walked, run, danced, or cycled, the Galp Foundation delivers a meal to a family supported by the Emergency Food Network.
This year, we are renewing our ambition to cover a million kilometres and thus once again deliver a million meals, the equivalent of a third of a national Food Bank campaign.

Every Step Counts

Let's deliver a million meals to those most in need?
With the help of more than 257,000 participants in the four previous editions, we have delivered more than 3.2 million meals.
This charity challenge has the partnership of Rádio Comercial, TVI, and Cascais City Hall. The campaign brings together Galp employees and well-known Portuguese names, such as the Olympic gymnast Filipa Martins, the president of the Food Bank Isabel Jonet, and the presenters Mónica Jardim and Pedro Ribeiro.
And because helping knows no borders, we are taking this movement to Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Spain, Eswatini, and Mozambique, countries where Galp is present and where we will be supporting, respectively, Obra de Caridade da Criança Santa Isabel, Gastromotiva, Centro Terapêutico de Ribeira de Vinha, FESBAL, Mangozeni Soup Kitchen, and Plataforma Makobo.

FAQ

Participation is simple:

(1) Between the 7th of October and the 8th of December, cover any distance by walking, running, cycling, or doing 'more unexpected' physical activities such as dancing or playing Padel. Each kilometre is equivalent to a meal. And don't forget: every step counts - truly every one of them - whether you're on the treadmill at the gym or out walking with your furry friends.

(2) Keep a kilometre-tracking app at hand and screenshot the distance covered. Most mobile phones already have this kind of app installed. If not, there are free options such as Google Fit or Strava. Photos of the dials of pedometers or running watches also work. In this step, we'll also ask you to indicate where and when you covered the distance

(3) Submit the screenshot or photo to todosospassoscontam.galp.com. Every kilometre you cover is worth a meal!

(4) The more times you participate, the more you are helping

Yes, you can register the steps you have covered over several days at once, even if they are prior to the date on which you are completing the form. All you have to do is indicate the start and end date to which the kilometre submission relates.

Simply select 'Collective participation' when you enter the form. You will then be asked how many participants the kilometre submission refers to.

No, you can't. Except for employees of Galp group companies in Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Spain, Eswatini, or Mozambique, the form requires you to indicate the district and municipality in Portugal where the distance was covered.

Yes, you can. To make it easier to convert steps into kilometres, use the following approximate ratio: 1 km = 1,400 steps.

If, after reading the Regulations, you still have any questions, you can send an email to todosospassoscontam@galp.com.
