Every Step Counts
Learn about the history of this solidarity movement, now in its 4th edition
From internal pilot to national movement
The
Every Step Counts
initiative was born in 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic, in the form of an internal challenge to Galp employees to
combine physical exercise with the social purpose of supporting those who need it most.
The simple mechanics of participation still apply today:
for every kilometre walked, run or cycled, Galp delivers a meal
to vulnerable families supported by the
Rede de Emergência Alimentar
(Emergency Food Network). Thanks to the "steps" of its employees, Galp was able to donate 10,000 meals in the space of a month.
Before long, the initiative "took to the streets",
urging all Portuguese to join this solidarity movement.
Between April and July 2021, the 1st edition of Every Step Counts reached the mark of one million meals.

Since its first edition, this social support movement driven by Galp has mobilised more than 160,000 participants, supported more than 6,000 institutions and delivered more than 3,2 million meals.

Every Step Counts has dedicated its energy and that of all those who contribute to this movement to the vulnerable families supported by the Emergency Food Network, which is the project's key partner. Given its national reach, the initiative also counts Rádio Comercial and TVI as its partners.
